Aerial Guide applicants must be at least 18 years of age prior to their work start date, and have current CPR and First Aid certifications.

This position must also be a key communicator and handle administrative/logistic duties for the aerial operation including: planning, logistics, staff management, hiring, culture, training and many other functions described in detail below.   The Aerial Operations Assistant Manager position is classified as “9/12” in which the Manager works full-time for nine months of the year yet receives a paycheck across all twelve months of the year.  While the position is full-time during the nine working months, the work schedule fluctuates with many weeks exceeding 40 hours and some weeks falling short of 40 hours.

In this role, the Deck Reservations Supervisor will engage in and oversee the process of greeting guests as they arrive for their adventure, taking day-of reservations, checking guests in, accepting payment, and answering questions on the area and all NOC adventure activities. This position is responsible for the daily scheduling and operations of Deck Reservationists and diffusing any issues that may arise.      Preferred availability of this position is from early May until late August. Must be available on weekdays / weekends and morning / evening shifts not to exceed 40-45 hours a week.

They primarily instruct on nearby rivers and on Lake Fontana; however, they also instruct on various rivers all over the Southeast. Depending on their skill-set and training, instructors can teach novice level up to advanced level paddlers. Additionally, they may specialize in more advanced playboating or creekboating instruction. Many instructors also cross-train as a stand-up paddle (SUP) instructors, Rescue 3 instructors, raft guides and/or lake tour guides.   Instructors must be certified for whitewater instruction through the American Canoe Association (ACA) or equivalent certifying association. Instructors must also possess current CPR and Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certifications. For applicants without these prerequisite certifications, the Nantahala Outdoor Center offers ACA Instructor courses, as well as wilderness medicine courses through SOLO Southeast. Our meals and your service helps to round out our guest’s day. We have adventurous guests with hearty appetites and you can be part of this atmosphere. Depending on availability, qualification and interest, Servers may also have the opportunity to work in other aspects of the Food and Beverage operation, or in other departments. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.    Servers are hired seasonally for the summer months with the occassional need for shoulder season or year-round employment. Servers are required to have weekend and holiday availability as well as be available to work morning, day or evening shifts as needed and outlined by management.

If this sounds like you, we hope you'll apply to join the NOC team.   JOB SUMMARY:   The Shipping and Receiving Clerk position is a seasonal position that will run from February through October 2018.    The primary functions of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk are to receive incoming FedEx and UPS deliveries, process incoming retail inventory orders accurately and also process outgoing UPS shipments.  The Shipping and Receiving Clerk reports directly to the Store Manager, but receives daily direction from the Shipping and Receiving Specialist. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is expected to be highly organized and must have a strong attention to detail, ensuring that retail orders are processed accurately and efficiently.

If this sounds like you, we hope you'll apply to join the NOC team.     Job Summary:    NOC is looking for a qualified candidate to join our Vehicle Shop team as the Assistant Manager. As the Assistant Manager of NOC’s Vehicle Shop, you will work with our small team at the Vehicle Shop on Needmore Rd. approximately 5 miles from the Main NOC Campus near Bryson City, NC.  In this position, you will work with the River Overhead Manager, Vehicle Shop Manager and other mechanics and shop employees to ensure all NOC vehicles are registered, inspected and in proper, safe running condition when they are in service.   NOC maintains a fleet of approximately 100 vehicles of varying types with diesel engines, gasoline engines and a few electric motors including, busses, trucks, vans, cars and trailers. Most days will be spent at the Vehicle Shop but travel to our Outpost locations in multiple southeastern states is sometimes necessary. A flexible schedule that will include some weekend and holiday duty is required during the season when NOC is busiest from Memorial Day through Labor Day.   This position is located in beautiful western North Carolina and is the perfect place for any outdoor enthusiast. This position is full-time, year round and benefits eligible including health and dental insurance, 401k, vacation and sick days.
