    JOB SUMMARY:

     

    Nantahala Outdoor Center is seeking an experienced digital marketer who is savvy in data collection, analysis and marketing program optimization. This position will work closely with NOC’s marketing and sales teams to better utilize web and digital technologies to accomplish business goals.

     

    The Digital Marketing Strategist role will focus on all aspects of NOC’s digital brand experience, from connecting with potential guests online to serving existing guests pre and post experience. A successful candidate will be tech-savvy and employ strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. A data-first approach in optimizing current campaigns and exploring new growth opportunities is essential. Experience managing digital marketing programs, analyzing data sets, and applying creative solutions to solve  complex business problems is a must.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Champion analytical analysis and measurement plans/reports to accomplish departmental and organizational goals ( 30%)
      • Define measurement plans for new campaigns and initiatives
      • Refine measurement plans and KPIs for existing initiatives
      • Provide the Marketing and Sales & Finance teams with additional analytical support and deeper insights derived from customer and marketing data
      • Leverage industry standard analysis and collection tools to model, collect and analyze/report on data including but not limited to: Google Analytics, in house CRM, SQL, Tableau, Excel & KPI dashboarding tools

    • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of all NOC websites and guest facing digital infrastructure (25%)
      • Provide simple fixes and updates to Expression Engine & Wordpress websites
      • Coordinate with 3rd party developers to issue fixes and commission ongoing improvements
      • Collaborate with the Marketing team to implement content updates, graphic design and copy changes
      • Lead, or oversee, the continued evolution and growth of strategic SEO strategy

    • Lead the effort for conversion rate optimization across all digital mediums (25%)
      • Use qualitative and quantitative analysis to develop and execute a CRO strategy for email, web properties, and advertising plans
      • Build and develop testing strategies to support and validate hypotheses
      • Employ an iterative approach to testing and optimization to achieve continued growth in marketing ROI
      • Collaborate closely with Marketing Manager, Graphic Designer, Sales teams and Marketing Specialist to implement experiments across mediums
    • Help create, manage and implement marketing plans and initiatives, developed under the direction of the Marketing Director, Marketing Manager and department heads (20%)
      • Work closely with the Marketing Director to manage digital campaigns
      • Serve as an in-house resource to educate and advise departments on marketing best practices
      • Prioritize projects and provide timely updates to relevant parties
      • Assign and coordinate work with third parties including agencies, contractors, and consultants, in relation to digital advertising and online acquisition

    Qualifications

    • Exceptional analytical and creative problem solving skills
    • Demonstrated capacity and willingness to learn
    • Proven work experience as a digital marketing strategist or digital marketing manager
    • Proven ability to conduct meaningful tests and draw actionable conclusions using a variety of tools including: Google Analytics, heatmapping and UI enhancement tools, site surveying, and variant testing
    • Experience managing content on a web based CMS (Expression Engine & WordPress)
    • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS
    • Experience creating and improving measurement plans
    • Demonstrated ability to utilize Excel and dashboarding tools
    • Well versed in SEO/SEM best practices, with the ability to refine and build on existing campaigns
    • Ability to multi-task in a high energy, collaborative environment
    • Demonstrated history of reliability, conscientiousness, and teamwork

     

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • 3+ years experience in a digital marketing related field or equivalent position.
    • B.S/B.A in Marketing or related field or equivalent experience is preferred.

     

    Tools, Equipment & Conditions

    • Ability to work flexible schedule of various shifts to include days, nights, weekends and holidays as seasonally necessary.
    • Position requires sitting in a stationary position for lengths of time and standing for long periods of time.
    • Often times odd hours and weekends are needed to support operations from Memorial Day through early October.

    Primary Work Location

    • NOC Administrative office located in Asheville, NC
    • Travel to Main Campus in Bryson City required on occasion
