    Working in Rentals, you have the unique opportunity to work in three different roles, Rentals Check-In, Truck and Trailer and Back Beach. In these roles, you help to facilitate awesome adventures for our guests and play a key role in their experience by assisting them with pre and post trip operations. 


    This is a seasonal position and reports to the Nantahala Rafting Management team. During the season (May - June), this role can usually expect to work 5 days a week and are working in an outdoor environment. NOC is looking to hire individuals that are available to start in May and June and are able to join us for a minimum of 3 months. Due to the seasonal demand of this position time off requests are limited and should be kept to a minimum. Black out dates for time off requests are July 1st - August 15th. 


    This position has the potential for pay increases depending on applicants qualifications and if they are able to perform all three roles (Rentals Check-In, Truck and Trailer and Back Beach).


    Adventure Center - Rentals Check-in

    • Greet, check-in and verify waivers for rentals guests
    • Gear up rentals guests with booties, wetsuit, splash jacket, PFD, helmet and paddle
    • Conduct safety talk and start safety video
    • Inform guests on NOC adventure products
    • Properly sanitize and put away gear after the trip
    • Assist River Guides with moving and loading rafts and duckies

    Truck and Trailer

    • Greet guests that arrive on bus at the put-in
    • Assign guests a boat according to roster
    • Inflate and prep boats based on trip numbers
    • Assist guest with carrying their boat to the river when necessary
    • Coordinate with Adventure Center staff to properly plan how many boats need to be ready and when

    Back Beach

    • Inform and alert guests of the take out as they finish their trip
    • Perform rescues for guests that have missed the take out when necessary
    • Coordinate the organization and stacking of boats at the take-out
    • Instruct guests on post trip tasks
    • Assist River Guides with loading and throwing boats at the end of the day

    Other duties as assigned.




    • Valid Driver's License and a clean motor vehicle record


    • 21 years of age or older for insurance reasons


    Applicants must have:

    • A professional appearance and attitude
    • Ability to sustain productive work with little supervision
    • Ability to learn and instruct the basics of water safety
    • Able and willing to train and assist in basic rescues
    • Capable of providing an excellent guest experience
    • Capable of maintaining composure under stress 
    • A self starter

    • Effective at communicating with coworkers

    • Willing to take ownership of the work you do

    Physical Requirements and Environment:

    • Comfortable in a fast paced and dynamic environment
    • Comfortable working in a guest facing position
    • Comfortable driving on winding mountain roads and in some instances with a trailer
    • Comfortable in whitewater
    • Ability to move and lift up to 50lbs repetively, overhead lifting is often required 
    • Ability to bend, stoop, twist
    • Comfortable working in various climates (heat, cold, wind, rain)
