    Job Summary:

    Bartenders for the Nantahala Outdoor Center work primarily at Big Wesser. This position creates a great opportunity for one of NOC main values – work hard, play hard. Shifts will consist of a continuous three days on and three days off schedule. Depending on availability, qualification and interest, bartenders may also have the opportunity to also work at River’s End and Relia’s Garden Restaurants, or in other departments. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. 




    • Provide information to guests on menu items and drink specials
    • Ensure that all guests purchasing alcohol are of legal drinking age, and that all aspects of the handling, serving and regulation of alcohol are done with complete adherence with NOC’s alcohol policy and ABC laws and regulations
    • Handle cash and credit card transactions with guests
    • Promote and provide information to guests on NOC advnetures and local area information
    • Prepare and serve cocktails
    • Assisting other members of the Food and Beverage team as needed
    • Setting up, stocking, and closing materials and equipment needed to operate bar


    • Able to work in a fast paced outdoor environment
    • Must be able to lift 25lbs
    • Must be able to think critically and problem solve
    • Applicants must be able to follow steps, procedures and policies
    • Must have great customer service and strong communication skills
    • Function as a team player
    • Take direction
    • Ability to work independently
    • Thorough understanding of ABC regulations, and the flow of restaurant operations
    • Must be comfortable working on their feet for as long period of time

    NOC Food and Beverage operations primarily hire seasonally for the summer months, with occasional need for shoulder season employees.


    Required Education or Experience:

    • Two years/seasons experience tending in front of house operations, preferably in a fast paced vacation destination.
