    Job Summary:


    Reporting to NOC’s Director of Marketing, the Graphic Designer is responsible for creating effective, on-brand visuals for NOC and its associated departments and business units. This position works alongside a project manager (typically the marketing director or marketing manager) to provide creative support and final production of marketing materials in various digital and print formats. The ideal candidate is highly organized and detail oriented. Experience with task management, organizational systems and a desire to help maintain and improve upon NOC’s current asset library is a must.


    In addition to day to day graphic design requirements, this position also oversees on-site print production utilizing a large format printer. As necessary, the Graphic Designer may need to coordinate and collaborate with external agencies, printers, photographers, or freelancers to complete projects and tasks on deadline.



    • Conceptualize and execute the graphic design and layout of marketing and communications materials in all print and electronic mediums. (50%)
      • Design and develop most of NOC’s promotional tools including online banners, magazine ads, interactive demos, web site layouts, product brochures, logos, signage, etc.
      • Work with Marketing Managers to concept and implement design ideas consistent with the department’s strategic goals and marketing tactics
      • Manage tight deadlines and overlapping projects simultaneously
    • Contribute to the direction of the organization’s marketing & retail departments and strategy through design, new media concepts and organizational systems. (15%)
      • Maintain an active role in a dynamic marketing team by suggesting relevant improvements to current campaigns and / or opportunities for new media
      • Work with the retail team to design new concepts for use in the outdoor retail space including: t-shirts, hats, giftware, etc.
      • Maintain and improves department organization systems including task management and file management systems
    • Interpret the brand strategy into functional design systems and elements. (15%)
      • Nurture NOC’s brand identity and monitors creative for inconsistent or inappropriate use of the brand or brand components
      • Work with the Marketing Manager to encourage appropriate use of NOC brand elements by colleagues, internal departments, and 3rd party partners
      • Provide timely and relevant feedback on the evolution of brand elements in regards to maximizing the efficacy of the NOC brand image 
    • Assist with the creation and management of production work necessary for maintenance on the family of NOC websites. (10%)
      • Support site content, copy and functionality maintenance
      • Coordinate with the marketing manager and department heads to source web content updates on a regular basis
      • Troubleshoot site problems and fix incorrect data as needed
      • Create web imagery, popups, and layouts for NOC websites
    • As needed, obtains cost estimates, selects, supervises and manages outside creative resources such as photographers, illustrators, paper suppliers or printers. (10%)
      • Work with photographers and other creative vendors to obtain identified resources within an established timeframe and budget
      • Oversee inventory of creative supplies as needed, including a large format printer and photo / video equipment
      • Bid out printing jobs to multiple vendors, presenting best value selections on a project by project basis
      • Communicate project specifications to vendors




    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrable experience in conceptualizing, refining, and delivering creative assets for use in print, web, digital campaigns, and email
    • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
    • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
    • Understanding of marketing strategies as it relates to design
    • Ability to multitask in a high energy, collaborative environment
    • Demonstrated history of reliability, conscientiousness, and teamwork
    • Professional experience managing sites using WordPress, front end development experience is preferred
    • Experience with HTML and CSS is desired

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
    • 2+ years professional graphic, web, and / or illustration experience
