    JOB SUMMARY

    Gain valuable work experience by working as an Accounting Assistant for the summer at the Nantahala Outdoor Center.  Responsibilities would include: processing daily accounting check outs, preparing bank reconciliations, managing petty cash, accounting office duties including running accounts payable checks and serving as the front line for the accounting office.  This is a seasonal position located on our Wesser Campus in Bryson City, NC.     

    Responsibilities

    • Retail and Adventure daily check-outs
    • Handle petty cash
    • Process cash change request
    • Process on eemand manual vendor checks
    • Assist as payroll back-up
    • Provide exceptional internal customer service
    • General Accounting Office duties
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Exceptional detail and organizational skills
    • Excellent problem solving abilities
    • Cash handling experience
    • Ability to learn departmental office process and procedures and to use judgment in coordinating workflow.
    • Ability to use courtesy and tact in performing internal and external duties that may be sensitive and confidential in nature
    • General knowledge of Federal and State Wage and Hour Laws
    • Must function as a team member with a positive attitude

     

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    • Minimum high school graduate or its equivalency
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred
    • Previous internship and basic accounting experience preferred

    Tools, Equipment and Conditions:

    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • PC, 10 key calculator, scanner, fax and phone
