    Job Summary: 

    If you have a passion for mountain biking and the desire to share it with others then we encourage you to apply to be a Bike Guide at NOC!

     

     

    Bike Guides work at the Bike Shop on NOC’s main campus on the Nantahala River which is at the base of our on-site trail, Flint Ridge. In this position, you will facilitate our Guided Mountain Biking tours along with outfitting our Adventure Pass guests with all equipment they will need to enjoy our trails. Bike Guides will also drive our shuttle van to and from the on-site trailhead. Due to this responsibility, applicants for this position must be at least 23 years of age prior to their start date; current CPR and First Aid certifications are required. 

     

    The NOC Adventure Center is accepting Bike Guide applicants for the 2018 peak season summer months, primarily from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain and cleaning of our rental bike fleet on a daily basis
    • Assist all Adventure Pass guests with the bike portion of their adventure, including but not limited to; shuttling guests in a van to the trailhead, outfitting them with all necessary equipment, providing them information about the on-site trail system
    • Ride on-site trails at least once a week to check for downed trees or other potential hazards
    • Operate as a bike guide on our Guided Mountain Bike programs that are offered throughout the summer months
    • Assist guests with technical questions regarding the appropriate bike, equipment, gear and fit
    • Act as a cashier for rentals and sales
    • Promote the adventures that NOC has offers, and provide local area information, especially local trails and directions
    • Other tasks as assigned, such as driving vehicles, repair and maintenance of gear or facilities, guest reservations and check-in, bike tour guiding, or assisting other NOC departments, as qualified and as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Great communication skills
    • Strong sense of guest service, and enthusiasm about teaching and sharing outdoor activities with others
    • Prior biking experience and comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions
    • Comfortable working in a teamwork-based environment, and be able to take direction well and exhibit good judgment
